Websites for freelancers & small businesses

A website that actually earns its keep

Straightforward, honest websites for freelancers and small businesses, built properly and looked after once they're live, not handed over and forgotten about.

Fixed prices from £60 to build, £50–£150 a month after that for hosting, updates and a monthly round-up on how it's doing. No jargon, no inflated promises.

Full disclosure

I'm not a website designer by trade

Over the past two years I've built sites on the side, mostly helping out friends and family, and picked up a lot along the way. I won't pretend otherwise. What I can offer instead is an honest, straightforward approach, no jargon, no inflated promises.

How it works

Built properly, so it actually earns its keep.

No sales pitch, just the basics done right: fast to load, clear about what you do, and easy to use on a phone. Those are the things most small business sites quietly get wrong. Here's what that looks like once you're set up.

Live within the first month

Once we've agreed the bundle and you've sent over what I need, your site is normally built and live within a month, not left half-finished waiting on a "phase two".

Looked after, not abandoned

Fortnightly updates, small changes as you need them, and a monthly round-up email showing how the site's actually doing in search, so you always know it's working.

There's a small one-off setup fee, usually somewhere in the £50–£250 range, depending on which bundle fits, to get everything built and set up properly. Ongoing costs are then billed monthly, covering hosting, updates and the reporting above (full detail in the pricing section below).

If we do end up working together, I don't just hand over a site and disappear: every month you'll get a quick update on how it's actually ranking in search, plus regular updates to the site itself. There are usually a few things we can do along the way to help improve visibility.

Pricing

What it actually costs

If you haven't got a site yet, there's nothing to compare against, so here are the bundles I offer, with the actual prices. No packages that only make sense once you've had a call with me.

For businesses that sell products online.
£250
One-off
£150
To maintain
Everything in Complete (multi-page site, fortnightly updates, monthly round-up email, online booking, 10 blog posts), plus:
  • A full online store: product listings, shopping cart, and secure checkout
The monthly fee for the Shop bundle may be quoted higher for shops with frequent or large inventory/catalogue changes, since stores typically need more frequent updates than the other bundles.
The build fee is a one-off, paid once to get everything set up properly. The monthly fee covers hosting, the fortnightly updates, small changes as you need them, and the round-up email. There's nothing else added on top.

Every bundle is built to the same standard

Fast, mobile-friendly, and built properly, whichever one fits.

Picking Starter over Complete doesn't mean cutting corners on how the site's actually built. Every site gets the same attention to speed, mobile design and clarity. The bundles just change how much site there is, not how well it's made. If none of the three quite fit what you need, say so and we'll sort something sensible.

Realistically

What the first year can look like

Not a promise, just an honest idea of a typical timeline.

Month 1

Your new site goes live

Clean design, working contact/booking pages, mobile-friendly, ready to actually represent your business.

Months 2–3

Early days

Real feedback starts coming in, maybe your first few enquiries through the new site, and we fine-tune based on what you're seeing.

Months 3–6

Search engines start to notice you exist

If you're posting and sharing consistently, this is usually when steady, organic traffic starts to build.

Months 6–12

A genuine asset

With consistency and a bit of patience, a well-built site starts bringing in more enquiries on autopilot, less reliance on ads or word of mouth alone.

None of this is guaranteed. It depends on your industry, how much marketing sits behind the site, and plenty of things a website alone can't control. But a site that's fast, clear and easy to use gives you the best possible starting point.

FAQ

Questions people actually ask

No jargon, just the honest answers.

How much does a website actually cost?

Between £60 and £250 as a one-off to get it built and set up properly, depending on which bundle fits, then £50–£150 a month after that to keep it hosted, updated, and looked after. The exact figures for each bundle are in the pricing section above.

I don't have a website yet. Is that a problem?

Not at all. If you haven't got a site to compare against, the bundles above are simply what I'd quote from scratch. Most of my enquiries come from people in exactly that position.

I'm already paying for a website somewhere else. What happens?

Switching over is straightforward. Your domain and email stay exactly as they are throughout, so there's no disruption to either. I've written a full walkthrough of how a clean switch works if you want the detail.

What's actually included in the monthly fee?

Hosting, fortnightly updates to the site, small changes as you need them, and a monthly round-up email showing how it's doing in search. Nothing extra gets added on top without telling you first.

How long does it take to get my site live?

Once we've agreed the bundle and you've sent over what I need (content, logo, colours, domain details), a typical build goes live within the first month. From there it's a case of fine-tuning based on real feedback.

Do I keep ownership of my domain?

Yes. If you already own a domain, it stays in your name throughout. If you need a new one, it's registered in your name too, not mine. See the terms of service for the full detail.
